Ethical rules for insurance division staff

This section sets ethical rules for the insurance division's top officials and employees. They cannot work for, own stock in, lend money to, or have any financial interest in an insurance company or agency in Hawaii. The only exception is that they can hold an insurance policy or be owed money by such a company.

The commissioner, deputies and employees of the insurance division shall not represent, be employed by, own any securities of, be a creditor of, or be financially interested in any other manner in, any insurer authorized to do business in this State, or in any insurance agency in this State, except that the commissioner, or any deputy or employee, may be a policyholder or obligee of any such insurer.
