When the compact ends

This section says the compact automatically ends when only one state is left in it. Once it ends, the compact has no more effect, the commission closes its business, and leftover money is given out according to its bylaws.

The statute, as written — Dissolution of compact

(a) The compact dissolves effective upon the date of the withdrawal or default of the compacting state that reduces membership in the compact to one compacting state. (b) Upon the dissolution of this compact, the compact shall be void and shall be of no further effect, the business and affairs of the commission shall be wound up, and any surplus funds shall be distributed in accordance with the bylaws.
