Pass an exam before getting your license

Before you can get a license as an adjuster or independent bill reviewer, you must take and pass an exam given by the insurance commissioner. The exam tests whether you are qualified and competent for the job.

The statute, as written — Examinations for license

Prior to the issuance of the license, each applicant for license as an adjuster or independent bill reviewer shall personally take and pass to the satisfaction of the commissioner an examination given by the commissioner as a test of the applicant's qualifications and competence.
