This law applies only to fraternal benefit societies that want to pay benefits after July 10, 1961. It does not apply to legal service plans that are covered by another chapter, even if a fraternal benefit society offers them.

The statute, as written — Scope of article

This article relates only to fraternal benefit societies, as defined herein, which desire to be authorized to pay benefits in accordance with this article after July 10, 1961. This article shall not apply to legal service plans subject to chapter 488 even though the plan may be offered by a fraternal benefit society.
