How Other Laws Apply to These Societies
This section says which insurance laws apply to societies covered by this article. They are generally exempt from other state insurance laws unless those laws are specifically named or this article says they apply. However, some listed laws still apply to fraternal benefit societies.

The statute, as written — Applicability of other laws
(a) Except as herein provided, societies shall be governed by this article and shall be exempt from all other provisions of the insurance laws of this State unless they are expressly designated therein, or unless it is specifically made applicable by this article. (b) Nothing in this article shall exempt fraternal benefit societies from the provisions and requirements of part IV of article 2, part IV of article 3, and article 15 of chapter 431, and sections 431:2-215, 431:3-303, 431:3-304, and 431:3-305.
