If one part is invalid, the rest still stands

This section says that if a court decides one part of this article is invalid, the rest of the article and its application to other situations remain in effect. It is a standard legal rule to keep the rest of the law working.

The statute, as written — Severability

If any provision of this article or the application of such provision to any circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the article or the application of the provision to other circumstances, shall not be affected thereby.
