Where lawsuits and criminal cases under this chapter can be filed

This section says where cases under this chapter can be filed. Criminal cases must be filed in a court in the circuit where the defendant lives, does business, or has an agent. Civil cases can be filed in any appropriate court.

The statute, as written — Court and venue

(a) Any criminal action or proceeding authorized by this chapter shall be brought in any appropriate court in the circuit in which the defendant resides, engages in business, or has an agent. (b) Any civil action or proceeding authorized by this chapter may be brought in any appropriate court.
