State must provide and check testing equipment

The state must give local offices the measuring tools they need to enforce this law. These tools must be checked when first received and at least once a year after that. The check compares them to official state standards or to another approved lab's standards.

The statute, as written — Secondary standards and equipment

The State shall supply secondary standards and other equipment as is necessary to carry out the provisions of this chapter. These standards shall be verified upon their initial receipt and at least once a year thereafter by comparison with: (1) The state standards; or (2) Upon written authorization of the administrator, suitable standards of another laboratory that is recognized or accredited by the National Institute of Standards and Technology as capable of providing traceable measurements at the level of accuracy and precision necessary to verify the secondary standards and equipment.
