Holding cars as evidence for odometer problems

The administrator can take a passenger car as evidence for up to 96 hours if it has a broken or wrong odometer. A court can extend that time. This section only covers this temporary holding.

The statute, as written — Impoundment of evidence

The administrator may, for a period not to exceed ninety-six hours, impound as evidence any passenger car in which an inaccurate or incorrect or inoperable odometer system is installed or exists. Such period may be extended by order of the court.
