Old security interests that become perfected automatically
This section covers security interests that existed before the new UCC took effect on July 1, 1979. If the old law required filing or possession to perfect the interest, but it wasn't perfected, it becomes perfected automatically on that date if the new law allows perfection without filing or with a filing in the same office where a prior filing was made.

A security interest for the perfection of which filing or the taking of possession as required under old U.C.C. and which attached prior to the effective date of July 1, 1979 but was not perfected shall be deemed perfected on the effective date of the new U.C.C. if the new U.C.C. permits perfection without filing or authorized filing in the office or offices where a prior effective filing was made.
