Who is the parent when a surrogate gives birth

This section says that when a baby is conceived with medical help and born to a surrogate, the law in another part of the state rules decides who the legal parents are. Two specific parts of that law do not apply here.

The statute, as written — Individual born to gestational or genetic surrogate

Parentage of an individual conceived by assisted reproduction and born to a gestational or genetic surrogate shall be determined under part IX of chapter 584A, other than sections 584A-909(b)(2) and 584A-916(b)(2).
