Paying or handing over property when someone dies

If you owe money or hold property for someone who has died, and you pay or hand it over in good faith based on the proof of authority and affidavit, you are released from liability just as if you had paid the local personal representative.

Payment or delivery made in good faith on the basis of the proof of authority and affidavit releases the debtor or person having possession of the personal property to the same extent as if payment or delivery had been made to a local personal representative.
