Protection for employers who follow out-of-state child support orders

This section protects employers from being sued for withholding child support from a worker's pay, as long as the employer follows an income withholding order from another state that meets the rules of this article. The protection applies to claims by any person or agency about the withholding.

The statute, as written — Immunity from civil liability

An employer that complies with an income withholding order issued in another state in accordance with this article is not subject to civil liability to an individual or agency with regard to the employer's withholding of child support from the obligor's income.
