When this law applies

This law applies to new court cases about child support or parentage, and to cases about enforcing or changing an old support order, no matter when the old order was made. It only covers cases started after the law took effect.

The statute, as written — Transitional provision

This chapter applies to proceedings begun on or after the effective date of this chapter to establish a support order or determine parentage of a child or to register, recognize, enforce, or modify a prior support order, determination, or agreement, whenever issued or entered.
