Court can force witnesses to appear

If a witness who was properly summoned does not show up, the court can make them come and can punish them for not obeying. The court has quick power to handle this.

The statute, as written — Compelling attendance

Upon nonattendance of witnesses duly summoned, the service of the writ being proved, the court shall have summary power to cause their attendance and to punish them for contempt.
