When this law applies to family arbitration

This law covers family law arbitration if the arbitration agreement was signed on or after July 10, 2017. For older agreements, the parties can choose in writing to use this law. It does not change anything else.

The statute, as written — Transitional provision

This chapter applies to arbitration of a family law dispute under an arbitration agreement made on or after July 10, 2017. If an arbitration agreement was made before July 10, 2017, the parties may agree in a record that this chapter applies to the arbitration.
