Severability

This section is a legal safety net. It says that if a court decides one part of this chapter is invalid, the rest of the chapter still stands and works on its own. It does not create any duties or penalties.

The statute, as written — Severability

If any provision of this chapter or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of this chapter that can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this chapter are severable.
