Who can get victim rights and services

A victim gets the rights and services in this chapter only if they told the police about the crime within three months of it happening or being found out, unless they had a good reason not to.

The statute, as written — Eligibility of victims

A victim has the rights afforded by this chapter and is eligible for the services under this chapter only if the victim reported the crime to police within three months of its occurrence or discovery, unless the victim had justification to do otherwise.
