DNA database administration

The state Department runs Hawaii's DNA database and identification program. It also works with the FBI and other agencies to take part in the national DNA system that shares DNA records between state and local labs.

The department shall be responsible for the management and administration of the state DNA database and data bank identification program and for liaison with the FBI and other relevant agencies regarding the State's participation in a national DNA database such as the FBI's Combined DNA Index System, that allows the storage and exchange of DNA records submitted by state and local forensic DNA laboratories nationwide.
