HRS §88-43
Who cannot join the retirement system
This section lets the board decide that certain part-time or short-term workers cannot join the retirement system. It makes an exception for University of Hawaii faculty with multiple part-time jobs that add up to at least half-time. Also, anyone hired after January 1, 1928 who can join another pension system under part III cannot join this one.
