Retirement benefits while working for the legislature

If you are a retirement system member and take a leave of absence to work for the legislature during a session, you keep your retirement benefits and must keep making your employee contributions as if you were still in your regular job.

The statute, as written — Service while legislative employee

Any member who takes a leave of absence to be employed by the legislature during any legislative session shall be entitled to all benefits and required to make all employee contributions under the system for the period during which such employee worked for the legislature; provided that the contributions shall be made on the same basis as would have been required had the employee not been on leave of absence.
