HCC §14-60How a tree gets named an exceptional tree
Read the official text at hawaiicounty.gov ↗This section explains the process for naming a tree as an exceptional tree. Anyone can ask the arborist advisory committee to look at a tree. The committee studies it, tells the property owner, holds a public hearing, and sends a list to the county council. The council can change the list and adopts it by ordinance. The committee then makes official maps and files them with several county offices.
