License rules: age, transfer, dates, and display

This section sets basic rules for licenses. You must be at least 18 to get one. Licenses cannot be given or sold to someone else. They last from April 1 to March 31 of the next year. You must show the license clearly at the place it covers.

(a) A license may only be issued to a person eighteen years of age or older. (b) Licenses are nontransferable. SUPP. 20 (7-2026) 17-8 FIRE § 17-2-32 (c) Licenses are valid for a period beginning on April 1 of the year in which the license was issued and ending on March 31 of the following year. The date of issuance or effect and the date of expiration shall be noted on the license.
