Paying the inspection fee for subdivision construction

Before starting construction or getting final map approval (if a bond is posted), the applicant must pay an inspection fee. The fee is a small percentage of the estimated construction cost, but at least $25. If the map is not approved, the fee is returned. The fee goes to the finance director.

(a) Prior to the beginning of construction of the required improvements or prior to final approval of a subdivision map, when a suitable bond is posted, the applicant shall be required to pay a fee of two-tenths of one percent of the estimated cost of the construction work to be done in the subdivision but not less than $25 to cover the costs of inspection. The fee shall be returned to the applicant if the subdivision map is not approved. (b) Fees received from applicants shall be deposited with the director of finance.
