Where to put warning signals near curves or hills
Read the official text at hawaiicounty.gov ↗If your vehicle breaks down within 500 feet of a curve, hilltop, or other blind spot, you must place a warning signal in that direction. The signal must be far enough away to warn other drivers, but at least 100 feet and no more than 500 feet from your vehicle.

obstruction to view. Whenever any vehicle referred to in this division is disabled within five hundred feet of a curve, hillcrest or other obstruction to view, the warning signal in that direction shall be so placed as to afford ample warning to other users of the highway, but in no case less than one hundred feet nor more than five hundred feet from the disabled vehicle.
