(a) No person shall ride nor shall any driver of any vehicle permit riding on any portion of a vehicle not designated or intended for the use of passengers. This provision shall not apply to employees engaged in the necessary discharge of duty or to persons riding entirely within truck bodies in space intended for merchandise. (b) No passenger shall ride nor shall any driver permit riding upon any vehicle in such a manner so as to allow any part of the passenger’s body to extend over the front, rear, or side of the vehicle.
