Trailer air brake backflow protection rules

This section requires that air brake systems on trailers made or put together after July 1, 1961, must be built to stop air from flowing backward from the brake air tank into the supply line. It only covers this one safety design requirement.

Air brake systems installed on trailers manufactured or assembled after July 1, 1961, shall be so designed that the supply reservoir used to provide air for the brakes shall be safeguarded against backflow of air from the reservoir through the supply line.
