How to file a protest at the hearing

At the hearing, anyone interested or any taxpayer can protest the district, its size, the financing of certain public facilities, or the special tax, either by speaking or in writing. Protests about the process must be in writing and must list the specific problems. Written protests must be given to the clerk before or at the hearing, and can be withdrawn in writing before the hearing ends.

At the hearing, protests against the establishment of the district, the extent of the district, the financing of specified types of public facilities or the special tax may be made orally or in writing by any interested persons or taxpayers. Any protests pertaining to the regularity or sufficiency of the proceedings shall be in writing and shall clearly set forth the irregularities and defects to which objection is made. All written protests shall be filed with the clerk at or before the time fixed for the hearing. The council may waive any irregularities in the form or content of any written protest and at the hearing may correct minor defects in the proceedings. Written protests may be withdrawn in writing at any time before the conclusion of the hearing. (1994, ord 94-77, sec 3.)32-26
