How to count days for construction deadlines
Read the official text at hawaiicounty.gov ↗This section explains how to count time for deadlines in the construction code. You skip the day the event happens, and if the last day is a weekend or holiday, you get the next workday. For short deadlines under a week, weekends and holidays are not counted.

In computing any period of time prescribed or allowed by the construction administrative code, or by any applicable law or rule, the day of the act, event, or default after which the designated period of time begins to run shall not be included. The last day of the period so computed shall be included unless it is a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, in which event the period runs until the end of the next day that is not a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday. When the period of time prescribed or allowed is less than seven consecutive days, intermediate Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays shall be excluded in the computation. As used in the construction administrative code, “holiday” includes any day designated as such pursuant to section 8-1, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes. (2020, ord 20-61, sec 2.) 5-1-7
