What happens when you apply for a building permit

(a) If the application, plans, specifications, and other data filed by an applicant for a permit do not conform to the requirements of pertinent laws, the authority having jurisdiction shall reject such application in writing, stating the reasons therefor. (b) If the authority having jurisdiction finds that the work described in an application for a permit and the plans, specifications and other data filed therewith conform to the requirements of the construction code and all other pertinent laws, and the fees specified in article 7 have been paid, the authority having jurisdiction shall issue a permit therefor to the applicant.
