This chapter sets the minimum plumbing and drainage rules for new work, changes, repairs, or rebuilding. It does not apply to plumbing on property owned or directly controlled by the U.S. government or the State of Hawai'i. It also defines key terms used in the chapter.

This Chapter sets forth minimum requirements for the design, installation, alteration, repair, and construction of plumbing and drainage systems, and shall apply to all new construction, relocation, alteration, repair, or reconstruction.Exception: Plumbing work on building or premises owned by or under the direct control of the United States or the State of Hawai'i.Definitions. In this Chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:means this Chapter.means the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials.means a section of a Chapter of the Uniform Plumbing Code.means the Uniform Plumbing Code as published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials.
