KCC §15-1.8

Rules for old buildings that don't meet flood standards

Read the official text at ecode360.com ↗

Buildings that were already nonconforming when flood rules took effect can stay, but any major repair or addition must meet current flood standards. If a building in a floodway is badly damaged or destroyed, it can't be rebuilt bigger unless you get a special permit. Rebuilding a destroyed building counts as new construction and must follow all flood rules.
