This section says which building permits this article covers. It covers permits for all building types except certain homes, projects attached to those homes, and affordable housing projects approved by the Housing Agency. If your project is one of those exceptions, this article does not apply.

The ordinance, as written (Kauaʻi County) — Applicability

This article shall apply to permits for all classifications of buildings and structures as to use and occupancy except for:any R-3 classifications under the Building Code; orprojects that are accessory to a building or structure classified as R-3; orhousing projects or portions of housing projects that are developed to be affordable to low-income households or gap-group households as determined by the Housing Director or the authorized representative of the Kaua'i County Housing Agency, provided such projects conform to applicable provisions of the County's affordable housing program.
