Headlights required on motorized scooters and bicycles

Motorized scooters and bicycles must have at least one headlight that shines far enough to see a person or vehicle 100 feet ahead. The light can be a single beam if the electrical system can produce enough brightness.

Every motorized scooter or motorized bicycle, at all times specified in Section 291-25 H.R.S. shall be equipped with at least one (1) and not more than two (2) lighted head lamps so aimed and of sufficient intensity to reveal a person or vehicle at a distance of at least one hundred (100) feet ahead of the vehicle. The head lamps may be of the single beam type provided that the power supply and the complete electrical system of the vehicle shall be adequate to provide two thousand five hundred (2,500) candlepower illumination.
