Riding rules and suspension for bad behavior

This section explains what happens if a passenger misbehaves on the bus. After a first talk, a second incident brings a written warning, and a third can lead to a 30-day suspension. Continued bad behavior after returning can result in a permanent ban.

First incident: When a passenger's behavior is found to be in violation of Sections 1 7B-l.2 through 1 7B-l.5, an agent of the Agency may speak with the passenger and the passenger's caretaker/family member (if applicable) about the passenger's behavior. The agent of the Agency will state to the passenger the reason the behavior is objectionable and the steps the passenger must take to correct the behavior.Second incident: If the passenger continues the disruptive behavior, an agent of the Agency may speak with the passenger and the passenger's caretaker/family member (if applicable) a second time. During this conversation, the passenger will be presented with a written warning stating the reasons the behavior is objectionable and the steps the passenger must take to correct the behavior. The warning will also state that another incident may result in a suspension of privileges to ride the transportation system for up to thirty (30) days.Third incident: A third incident may result in a suspension of transportation privileges for up to thirty (30) days. The suspension notice will be written, and hand-delivered to the passenger and the passenger's caretaker/family member or sent by certified mail to the passenger's address, if applicable.If a passenger continues the disruptive behavior following the passenger's return from suspension, a written notice will be hand-delivered to the passenger notifying the passenger, the passenger has been permanently suspended from riding the County bus system. A copy of this notice will also be sent to the client's caretaker/family member, if applicable.The Agency reserves the right to exceed the above violation procedures, including calling the police and having a disruptive passenger removed, should it become necessary for the safety of the driver or other passengers, or both. The Agency also reserves the right to determine the period of suspension based on the nature of the incident.
