How stray animals are sold at public auction

After the poundmaster gets a report about an unclaimed stray animal, they must put a notice in a local newspaper. The notice describes the animal and says when and where the public sale will happen. The sale cannot happen sooner than 10 days after the notice first appears.

When the poundmaster shall have received the return provided in Section 20-1.7, the poundmaster shall advertise and sell the impounded and unclaimed estray by placing notice in a newspaper of general circulation giving a full description of the estray together with an announcement of the time and place of the public sale, which sale shall take place not less than ten (10) days after the day the notice first appears for which notices the poundmaster shall be reimbursed the costs of the publication of notice to be charged pro rata according to the number of estrays advertised.
