Time Limit for Challenging County Actions

This section sets a strict deadline for anyone who wants to challenge a county ordinance, action, or debt under this chapter. You must start your lawsuit within 30 days of the action taking effect. After that, you lose the right to challenge it.

Pursuant to HRS Section 46-80.1, no action or proceeding to question the validity of or enjoining any ordinance, action, or proceeding undertaken pursuant to this Chapter (including the determination of the amount of any special tax levied with respect to any property or the levy or assessment thereof) or any debt issued or to be issued under this Chapter shall be maintained, unless begun within thirty (30) days of the effective date of the ordinance, determination, levy, assessment, or other act, as the case may be.
