This section explains what the County can do if a contract or action breaks the rules in this Article. The County can cancel certain contracts or actions, and can recover money or benefits gained from violations. It also says violations can lead to fines, suspension, or removal from a job or office.

In addition to any other penalty provided by law, any contract entered into by the County in violation of this Article is voidable on behalf of the County at the option of the Director of Finance, provided that in any action to void a contract pursuant to this Section the interests of third parties who may be damaged thereby shall be taken into account, and the action to void the transaction is initiated within 60 days after the determination of a violation under this Article. The County Attorney shall have the authority to enforce this provision.Any favorable County action obtained in violation of any of the standards for Councilmembers or employees is voidable in the same manner as voidable contracts as provided for under Sec. 3-1.11(a); and the County by the County Attorney may pursue all legal and equitable remedies available to it.The County Attorney may recover any fee, compensation, gift or profit received by any person as a result of a violation of these standards by a Councilmember or employee or former Councilmember or employee. Action to recover under this Subsection shall be brought within two years of the violation under this Article.Any violation of any of the provisions of this Article shall constitute cause for fine, suspension or removal from office or employment.
