Fees for copies of public records

County offices must charge set fees for copies of public records, except for certain records listed in other sections. Fees depend on page count, paper type, and whether you use self-service. The County Clerk can add a fee for certified copies.

All departments and agencies of the County of Kaua'i shall impose and collect the following charges for a reproduced copy of any public record in their custody, excepting those records described in Sections 4-2.2 (b), (c), and (d) of this Article, the reproduction of which is requested by any person for private use:Standard Letter or Legal Size ReportsPrice10 pages or less$0.50 per page.More than 10 pages$0.50 per page for first 10 pages and $0.25 per page thereafter.More than 50 pages$0.10 per page if done by self-service. The operator must be trained and authorized to run the machine, otherwise charge shall be $0.25 per page.Any department or agency shall impose and collect the following charges for a reproduced copy of any of the public records in its custody as described below, the reproduction of which is requested by any person for private use:Copyflex paper$0.50 per square foot ($2.00 minimum)Subdivision, zoning and tax maps (max. size 8-1/2″ x 14″)$1.00 per sheetSepia paper$5.00 per square footMylar film$10.00 per square footAerial contour maps on copyflex paper$30.00 per sheetAerial contour maps on sepia paper$550.00 per sheetAerial contour maps on mylar film$600.00 per sheetAll public records in pamphlet, brochure, book or other bound form produced by the County or a commercial firm shall be sold at cost plus 10%, more or less, to the nearest twenty-five cents ($0.25).The County Clerk may charge an additional fifty cents ($0.50) per certification on any record requested of him or her to be certified.
