This section explains how to pay the bus fare when boarding a County transit bus. You must pay the exact cash fare, and overpayments are not refunded. If the county offers tokens, coupons, or approved cards, you may use those instead of cash. You must show a valid ID or bus pass if you are not paying cash.

To board a County transit bus, a passenger shall deposit the exact fare in cash into the fare box of the bus, provided that if a passenger overpays the fare, the passenger shall not receive any refund for the overpayment. If the department establishes a bus token, coupon, or approved card program, a passenger may substitute the appropriate token, coupon, or approved card in lieu of cash to pay the fare. Passengers must present a valid identification card and/or bus pass if not paying cash. Passengers may be requested to remove their valid identification card and/or bus pass from a holder or wallet for inspection. ( Ord. No. 4940 , § 4, 2018; Ord. No. 3628, § 1, 2009)
