This law stops people from racing motor vehicles on county beaches because it is noisy and dangerous for people who are there to picnic, fish, camp, or swim. It does not ban driving on beaches to carry people or supplies for those activities.

The purpose of this chapter is to prevent persons from using the beaches of the County as race tracks for motor vehicles. The use of beaches as race tracks for motor vehicles causes annoying noises and endangers the health and safety of persons who desire to use the beaches for picnicking, fishing, camping, or swimming. This chapter is not meant to prevent people from driving motor vehicles on beaches to transport people or supplies for picnicking, fishing, camping, or swimming. (Prior code § 22-20.1 (part))
