How to Change the County General Plan

This section explains how the general plan can be changed. Any proposed change from the council, the planning director, or an agency must be sent to the planning board for review. The board, director, and council then follow the same steps used for creating the plan.

A. Any amendment to the plan proposed by the council, the director, or any agency shall be referred to the board for its review and recommendations. Upon receipt of a proposed amendment, the board, the director, and the council shall follow the procedures set forth in section 14.02.040 of this chapter. B. Whenever the planning director recommends revisions to the general plan pursuant to section 8-8.3(3) of the revised charter of the County of Maui (1983), as amended, which revisions will affect the plan, the director shall recommend amendments to the plan so as to be consistent with any community plan amendment.
