Tell the county before changing your wastewater system

If you use the wastewater system and plan to make a big change that could affect the wastewater, you must tell the county at least 15 days before the change. The county can ask for more information or require a new or updated permit. Big changes include a 20% or more increase in flow or releasing new pollutants.

At least fifteen days prior to a change in conditions, any user must notify the director of any planned significant changes to the user's operations or system that might alter the nature, quality, or volume of its wastewater. A. The director may require the user to submit such information as may be deemed necessary to evaluate the changed condition, including the submission of a new or modified wastewater discharge permit application. B. The director may issue a wastewater discharge permit pursuant to section 14.21A.100 , or modify an existing wastewater discharge permit pursuant to section 14.21A . 145. C. For purposes of this section, significant changes include, but are not limited to, flow increases of 20 percent or greater, and the discharge of any previously unreported pollutants.
