MCC §14.81.030
Rules for preventing polluted water from entering storm drains
Read the official text at library.municode.com ↗People responsible for property that could send polluted water into storm drains must take reasonable steps to prevent accidental spills, at their own cost. The County can also require them to add more pollution controls. Following an industrial stormwater permit can satisfy these rules.

A.
Any person responsible for premises that are or may be the source of an illicit discharge:
1.
Must provide, at their own expense, reasonable protection from accidental discharge
into the storm-drainage system; and
2.
May be required by the County to implement additional structural and non-structural
BMPs to prevent discharge of pollutants to the storm-drainage system.
B.
Compliance with all terms and conditions of a valid NPDES permit authorizing the discharge
of stormwater associated with industrial activity, to the maximum extent practicable,
satisfies this section's provisions. BMPs must be described in a stormwater pollution
prevention plan as necessary for compliance with requirements of the NPDES permit,
including activities to be implemented by a responsible party to identify sources
of pollution or contamination at a site and the actions to eliminate or reduce pollutant
discharges to stormwater, the storm-drainage system, or receiving waters to the maximum
extent practicable.
