Setting up the independent nomination board

A.
This chapter is intended to implement subsections 15—20 of charter section 13-2.
B.
The independent nomination board consists of nine members appointed by the mayor and
approved by the council by resolution, with one member from each of the council residency
areas:
1.
The island of Lānaʻi.
2.
The island of Molokai.
3.
East Maui (Hāna-Keʻanae-Kailua), as described in charter section 3-1(1).
4.
West Maui, as described in charter section 3-1(2).
5.
Wailuku-Waiheʻe-Waikapū, as described in charter section 3-1(3).
6.
Kahului, as described in charter section 3-1(4).
7.
South Maui, as described in charter section 3-1(5).
8.
Makawao-Haʻikū-Pāʻia, as described in charter section 3-1(6).
9.
Upcountry (Pukalani-Kula-ʻUlupalakua), as described in charter section 3-1(7).
C.
A regular term for each member of the independent nomination board is five years.
Initial terms of each member will be determined by the independent nomination board.
