This section explains why the county has design rules for buildings. It says new building, rebuilding, or remodeling should fit in with the look of the surrounding area. The goal is to protect and improve each community's architectural character and to support countywide design plans.

A. To ensure that the architectural qualities prevalent in a community are preserved it is deemed essential that new construction, reconstruction and renovation within a community enhance and complement the existing built environment. B. It is the intent of this chapter to: 1. Protect and preserve the architectural character of a community; 2. Encourage the identification, preservation and enhancement of the architectural character of a community; 3. Encourage the formulation of county-wide comprehensive design policies, guidelines, programs and plans. (Ord. 1932 § 1, 1990)
