The following definitions shall apply to the provisions of this chapter:
"Area plan" means the document and any amendments thereto submitted by the county
executive office on aging to the State of Hawaiʻi executive office on aging for approval
which sets forth goals and measurable objectives, and identifies the planning, coordination,
administration, social services and evaluation activities to be undertaken to carry
out the purposes of the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, and the regulations
promulgated thereunder.
"Low-income" means incomes which are below the current United States department of
commerce, bureau of census poverty threshold, including any modifications thereto
made by the State of Hawaiʻi executive office on aging.
"Minority" means those persons who identify themselves as American Indian/Alaskan
Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, Black, Hispanic and members of any additional limited
English-speaking groups designated as minority within the State of Hawaiʻi by the
State of Hawaiʻi executive office on aging.
"Nutrition project" means any project sponsored by a public or private nonprofit institution
or organization, agency, political subdivision of the State of Hawaiʻi, or Indian
tribal organization, and which has received an award in cash, or in kind in the form
of a grant to or contract with the State of Hawaiʻi pursuant to Title III, Part C
of the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, and the regulations promulgated thereunder.
