Creating the County Council on Aging

There is established a council on aging which shall consist of fifteen members appointed
by the mayor with the approval of the Maui County council; provided that council members
appointed to the council on aging as of July 15, 1992 shall serve out their terms
as active, voting members along with any new members appointed to the council on aging
so as to provide for a fifteen member council on aging. The members shall be representatives
of older individuals, participants of senior citizens programs, local elected officials,
and the general public, including low income and older minority persons in the county.
If a nutrition project is located within the county, at least one member of the council
on aging shall be representative of the council on aging for the nutrition project.
Eight members of the council on aging shall be actual consumers of services under
the area plan.
