Required insurance for county officials and employees

The county must buy a bond or crime insurance policy covering certain county positions for at least $50,000 each. The covered positions include the mayor, council members, directors, department heads, deputies, and finance employees who handle public money.

The director of finance shall procure a public employee's faithful performance blanket position bond or crime insurance policy covering the positions listed below for not less than $50,000 per position. The positions to be covered are as follows: A. The mayor and council members; B. All directors, the county clerk, the county auditor, the corporation counsel, the prosecuting attorney, the chief of police, the fire chief and the emergency management officer; C. All deputy directors, the deputy county clerk, the first deputy corporation counsel, the first deputy prosecuting attorney, the deputy chief of police and the deputy fire chief; and D. All employees of the department of finance and all other officers and employees concerned with the receipt, collection, custody, or disbursement of public funds.
