Ethics fines do not replace other penalties

This section says that fines for breaking the county ethics code are separate from any other punishment. Officials and agencies can still take their own disciplinary or legal action against someone who broke the rules. The fine does not cancel out other consequences.

The provisions of Section 2.56.010 for the imposition of a fine for the violation of the code of ethics of the county shall be in addition to and independent of any other right of any public official or agency to effect disciplinary action or other criminal proceedings against a person who has violated the code of ethics.
